Just Add Ink #525 Thank You

 

Hello there,

it's Friday and that means it's time for a new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Chantell is asking us to Just Add Thank You. 

It's hard to go wrong with flowers for thank you cards so I added plenty of them!

Working out the right combination of colours for the layers in the flowers was a very inky process but in the end I was happy with how they all turned out. In case you are curious here are the SU! colour combinations.

Biggest pale flower: Base layer- Blushing Bride, Mid layer - stamped off Magenta Madness, Top detail layer - Melon Mambo

Mid sized mid pink flower: Base layer - Stamped off Magenta Madness, Mid Layer - Magenta Madness, Top detail layer - Merry Merlot

Small darkest flower: Base layer - Melon Mambo, Mid layer - Merry Merlot, Top detail layer - Rich Razzleberry

The leaves were stamped in Mint Macaron and Shaded Spruce.

To add a bit of sparkle all the flowers were stamped on Shimmery White card stock, and then swiped very carefully with Wink of Stella, and a scatter of rhinestones finished it all off.

Colour INKspiration #57

welcome to the Colour INKspiration 57 blog hop. If you are hopping your way around the blog hop, you will have arrived from Jackie Aitken's awesome blog. Here's the INKspiration picture for this week. This week it's filled with a vibrant burst of colour featuring Lovely Lipstick, Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green. 

Here what I came up with.

You can probably tell I love a bold hit of vibrant colour. I started by brayering my background, added texture with water and ink splatter, then a layer of white gouache splatter. Next I coloured up my flowers with Stampin Up! blends, adding a snipped "thank you" sentiment from a larger sentiment in the Rooted in Nature stamp set. 

Tip: Don't forget you don't need to use sentiments as they are, you can always use just a few words!

To embellish I added some delicate white glimmer foliage (I really liked that it added a more vertical element). I also added some additional foliage using vellum and a little stamped branch. The black outlines were added to the branch using a fine line marker. 

Tip: Another way to customise your card is to add hand drawn accents. 

Here I used the same fine line marker to add a "doodled" (with the assistance of a ruler) border around the edge of my coloured panel. Lastly, a light coat of Wink of Stella added that all important sparkle!

JAI #353 Critters

Hello there,
this week has been a bit rough. Our dearly beloved fur baby, our 18 year old cat is not well. Perhaps, appropriately this weeks Just Add Ink challenge is kind of about him. This week Karren suggested a fun one for us all. Just Add Critters. So find all those animal stamps and get to work!

The cattery we take our boy to when we go away is run by dedicated, passionate and truly caring people and they were super helpful when we had to make some last minute adjustments to our Christmas booking last year. So as soon as I saw this stamp I knew I had to make a thank you card for them.

Our boy is a chocolate Burmese so I tried to colour the cat on the top of the heap a bit like him. In his younger years he definitely wanted to be top cat! I coloured my heap of cats with copic markers and I had to add some tassels - cause what pussy cat can resist a tassle!

JAI #299 Just add inspiration

Hello there,
well it has been toasty warm here again recently so I thought the challenge we have this week at Just Add Ink was just perfect.  This week Jan found a truly summery but very refreshing Just Add Inspiration picture for us. You can pull whatever elements inspire you from the picture - the colours, patterns, elements etc. Here it is.

And this is what I came up with.

The colours are what really caught my eye. The watermelon led me down the path of using Watermelon Wonder (what else) and water! It was such a great excuse to get in some more watercolouring. The flower was really going to be the star so I kept the background simple (just a few water splatters). The black elements add the contrast omph and a scattering of sequins some sparkle!

JAI 251 Just add thank you

Hello there,
this week was MUCH better than last week something for which I am very thankful for. It was nice to finally feel as though we had some routine back in the house and even better tomorrow I get to spend the day at the SU! party time event. Yippee! But first let me tell you about this week's Just Add Ink challenge. This week Patrice has given us the great challenge to Just Add Thank You. This is the chance to build up your thank you stash. So when you need one you'll be ready to go!

I decided to go gender neutral and with lots of colour and texture.

This is about as clean and simple as I get! I love the texture from the water colour paper, and accented with the stitching and embossed sentiment I reckon it stands up on its own. I discovered after some experimentation that to get the best water colour effect I had to wet the paper first then add the ink (ink refill on acetate with paintbrush). My experimental versions will not go astray as the kids snaffled them up straight away to save for their crafty projects.
