JAI 248 Just add a colour combo

Hello there,
well I have barely recovered from the birthday festivities this week (as you can imagine from a 10 year old's point of view the more birthday festivities the better the birthday) but despite that I do have a new Just Add Ink challenge for you. This week we have a lovely colour challenge for you (from me :). Here's the swatch.

And here's what I came up with on my first play with the new SU! butterfly thinlets.

I can't resist a second view - cause I really did like the way it turned out. This lets you see too that the butterfly is inset into the panel.

As you can probably guess I cut quite a few different butterflies for this, and piecing it together was definitely a labour of love - but in all honesty I do love being able to putter and I had a rare window the day I made this to indulge that. The really fun part was deciding which colours should go where - the pattern variations and colour combinations you could play with for this would be endless!

Do check out the rest of the DT for some colourful inspiration. Hope you can join us!

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

JAI 247 Just add love blog hop

Well hello and welcome to the first Just Add Ink challenge for 2015. It's nice to be back :)

Once again we are starting off the year with a blog hop to showcase the design team's projects for the challenge. You may have arrived here from Louise Sharp's blog (wasn't her project delightful!) or you can begin the blog hop here. Just click on the blog hop button at the bottom of the post or the link in the text at the end to move on to the next DT blog (Jodene Tripp). (You'll be glad you did!)

So what are we kicking the year off with? This week the challenge, from Christine, is to Just Add Love with the added twist of using a tag sketch as part (or as) your project. Here are the details.

An important January project for me every year is a birthday card for my little Miss - I think you'll be able to work out what milestone birthday we are up to this year ;) The first version of this turned out like something you would make for your 80 year old granny - perfect for that but just SO not right for a 10 year old! The new version is scrappy and bright (but not shabby) and rather remarkably liked by Miss almost 10. Thank goodness for that!

One to show the shimmer and shine.

The rest of the Just Add Ink DT have a wonderful array of inspiration generating projects for you to see so please do continue on and visit the rest of the team. Your next stop on the blog hop is Jodene Tripp's blog. I know she has something just gorgeous for you to see!

Hope you can join us for the challenge,
Thanks for visiting,
Kim

2014 Year in review

Hello and Happy New Year to you all!

I thought I would take the opportunity to look back over the past year and pick out a few of my favourite creations from 2014.

In no particular order here are my top three:

No1. I can't go past flowers - and this card combines flowers and something I really enjoyed experimenting with in 2014 - watercolour/ emboss resist.

No.2. Love the combination of detail and texture in this card I made for my Dad this year. Somehow the ones I make for my family always turn out extra special.

No. 3. Its only very rarely that I crack the CAS simple recipe and while this one isn't exactly simple it is clean - lol!

Wishing you all the best in 2015.

Thanks for visiting and don't forget to drop by on January 23rd when the first Just add Ink challenge for 2015 kicks off with a blop hop with the whole team.

Kim :)
