Just Add Ink #428 Colour

Hello there,
crazy weeks seem to be the theme around here recently but I have some down time coming my way so I am a happy camper! I did snatch some time last weekend to sit down and colour up an old favourite of mine for this weeks Just Add Ink challenge. This week Rachael wants us to Just Add a Colour Combo and I thought it was perfect for another Christmas card. Here are the colours.

And here is the new card for my Christmas stash.

It took a while to colour up three Calypso Coral versions of my poinsettia but it such a relaxing way to pass a couple of hours so well worth the time! Paired with the Lemon Lime leaves and Pool background it gives it a fresh bright modern feel, so I was quite pleased with how it turned out. Of course it's not a Christmas card without sparkle so I went over the flowers with Wink of Stella and added speckles of gold shimmer paint, strips of gold glimmer and gold sequins.

The Just Add Ink DT have gorgeous projects using the challenge colours to show you so please do go check them out and then come back and join in the challenge.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

Just Add Ink #427 "K"

Hello there,
it was another crazy busy week at work so I am very glad it's Friday. I'm thinking some chill out time on the couch this weekend is fully deserved! Another reason to be happy is that it's time for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Tina has asked us to to Just Add "K". What does that mean? Well it means that the main element of your project must be something that begins with the letter "K". It could be an object, and animal (kangaroo) or a colour (Kraft) or a technique or fancy fold (Kaleidoscope).

I'm slowly working on building my stash of Christmas cards so I rifled through my stash to find something beginning with "K" that I could use and I found a "kitty". My kitty images are  actually birthday ones, so I had to play around with some masking but it was kind of fun to see if I could build the image I wanted. Here's how it turned out.

I coloured my images with alcohol markers, swished over them with Wink of Stella and added a glossy coat of glue to the star and bauble. The images were coloured in bright primary colours so I decided that a strong blue background would work, one that hints at a night sky. To carry through the hints of gold in the card I speckled it with Aztec Gold shimmer paint. A stitched border around the edge of the watercoloured panel was all I needed to do then to finish it off!

The Just Add Ink DT have lot of fun "K" inspired projects to show you, so please do go check them out and then come back and join in the challenge.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim
