JAI #268 Just add a sketch

Hello there,
brrrrrrr we are back to heavy frosts this week - and we even saw snow (!!) when we went for a walk in the national park last weekend. The kids could only make teeny weeny snowballs but of course they had to try. Being mid winter there are no flowers in my garden right now but I couldn't but help pull some out for the new challenge at Just Add Ink this week. This week we have a sketch from Narelle for you. Here it is.

Oh goodness me I struggled to get a decent shot in our mid winter light. Not entirely happy with this but it was the best I could get.

A bit of brayering brought in some colour to the front, then I scattered a few water drops over the top and once they were dry over stamped a few flowers as well. Aside from that it was straightforward layering of panels and a bit of flower fussy cutting.

Hope you can join us this week. Don't forget to check out the inspiration from the rest of the DT.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

JAI #267 Just add typography

Hello there,
another week has flown past and that means it's time for a new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have a real interesting one for you from Di. We want you to Just Add typography. By typography we mean " the style, arrangement  or appearance of typeset matter". If you look for images of typography you will see lots of examples of text/words used to create an image. So that is what I set out to do.

I started by cutting a heart out of copy paper and using that as a mask through which I stamped my big 'love' sentiment, then I filled in the shape of a heart with lots of mix and match words. Then black embossed them all. I used the fine Project Life marker to hand draw in the outside heart shape. At this point I also stamped a few small Pink Pirouette hearts  adjacent to the big typography heart just to add a little extra depth. Since this was going to be a wedding card I wanted to tone down all that black. A vellum overlay solved that issue and also meant I could add in lots of sequins, once I had sewn a border around the edge to keep them in. A little sentiment banner over the front finished it off. It's hard to capture the subtle sheen of the embossing and sequins through the vellum - but it does look great IRL!

Hope you can join in the fun this week. Do check out the rest of the DT's fabulous projects.

Kim

JAI #266 Just add a colour combo

Hello there,
this week at Just Add Ink it's time for a colour challenge! Nikki has come up with a lovely colour combo that I'm sure will delight you.

Bold stripes is what popped into my mind and so this is what I ended up with.

One to show you the flowery dimension.

The inside.

I simply layered strips of Night of Navy over a white card base eyeballing an even spacing With a bold base I needed something bold on top. First a big scrolly sentiment, then a big flowery cluster and lots of gold foliage. To give the flowers some more depth I sponged Pink Pirouette ink over the centres of the white embossed detail.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's fabulous creations. Hope you can join us.

JAI #265 Just add Inspiration

Hello there,
goodness it really feels like the last week was hectic (and cold - I'm even turning into an ice block at work!!! - No joke!). So I am really glad it's the weekend - well almost ;) I do have something fun to warm things up though - a new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we want you to Just Add Inspiration and we have a great inspiration picture from Rochelle. You can pick one element, or several, the colours, patterns, objects from the inspiration picture to inspire your project. Here's the inspiration picture.

And here is what I made of it.

Creating this was very much a process of a adding a dash of this and a dash of that. I did have fun doing it (especially as it worked out) and have just realised retrospectively that I only (shock horror) used one stamp set!!

Do join us for this fun inspiration challenge and don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's inspired projects.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim
