JAI 252 Just add a sketch

Hello there,
it's still very summery here but to be honest I'm hanging out for some cooler weather. I love to feel the tinge of autumn in the air or the freshness of spring! Funnily enough though my card this week has a very summery feel. As the starting point I used this week's Just Add Ink challenge. This week the challenge is to Just Add a Sketch and it's from me :). Here's the sketch.

And here is my summery card.

One to show your the fabbo embossed chevrons.

I almost like my flower arrangement on the inside better than the one on the front!

This was bascially a let's play with flowers card and I had a lovely time doing it! It did have a serious purpose though as it was intended for a lovely friend for her birthday. The flowers were going to be the star so I kept the rest fairly simple just adding in some shine with embossed chevrons and a scattering of rhinestones.

Hope you can join us this week and show us what you did with the sketch! Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT for some stunning projects.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

Just Add Ink 231

Hello there,
well despite Father's Day here in down under being last Sunday I have two more Father's Day cards for you this week - it's a two for one day today - lol! As it just happens the new Just Add Ink challenge this week is a Just Add a Colour Combo challenge and the colours were just what I needed for both cards. Here's the combo provided by Mae this week.

This first one was for my DH, you can probably guess it does something special (I always make either his Father's day card or birthday card - both in the same month (groan) interactive). It's a slider (or surprise pop up card). You can find a tutorial on the Splitcoast Stampers site here.

Starting to open up.
A little bit more.
Open all the way from the side.
And finally the inside.

And here's the one I made for my FIL. No interactive elements in this one but my FIL assured me he loved it.

I was wracking my brains trying to think of some way to finish off the bottom of the front panel when using the fringe scissor occurred to me - very pleased it did as I think it works great!

So there you go - two guy cards from the same colour combo - Fathers Day mission accomplished - on schedule - phewww!

Hope you join us for this great colour challenge. Do check out the rest of the DT for lots of fabulous colour inspiration.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

JAI 213 Just Add Inspiration

Hello there,
can you believe its already May!! This year is flying past. Right now is one of my favourite times of year because of the beautiful Autumn colours that are everywhere. Just seeing those jewel bright colours contrasted against the blue sky makes me happy :)

I have to say that the challenge we have for you at Just Add Ink this week is one that made me happy too. This week its an inspiration challenge - pick what inspires you from the picture - patterns, colours and go have fun!

And here is what I came up with for my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary.

One to show you the fabulous shimmer and shine.

The inside.

The inspiration picture was just perfect for celebrating such a special family occasion. Gold adds such richness and of course Gold = 50 years. How perfect was that! I loved the detail the chevron adds and I pulled the pink and blue from the photo to represent bubbly bubbles, and love that it also represents the two halves of their long partnership.

I'll also confess it to being the first time I've used a tiled panel, it just seemed perfect for this!

Hope you can join in the fun. Do check out the rest of the JAI DT for wonderful inspiration.
Thanks for visiting,
Kim

JAI 207 Just add a sketch

Hello and happy day to you all!
I've had a lovely week this week - I got to catch up with a crafty friend and spend hours chatting about stamping. DH was horrified I could spend four hours talking about stamping. My reply was that we had only just scratched the surface and could have easily spent another four hours talking about life, stamping and everything!

I have also only just scratched the surface of using all the new stamping goodies I got in my last SU! box but you will see some of it for the card I made for this week's Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have a sketch for you. The first one I've ever made - eeekk!

And here is what I made of it.

I don't think I'm ever going to go off the idea of using dollies I love the lacy detail - so girly! Aside from the dollies I did a fair bit of heat embossing another fav technique of mine. Using the chevron border punch on the large tag was a last minute idea but I love the peek a boo effect you get with the DSP beneath.

Do check out the rest of the DT for some great inspiration for this sketch.

JAI 188 Just add Grunge

Hello there,
well I did say last week that I'd worked ahead a bit and today I have another Father's Day card for you - this time it was for my DH. The challenge we have for you at Just Add Ink this week was just perfect for it - as this week we want you to Just Add Grunge. Think splatter, layers, messy - a little or a lot!

And here is what I came up with.
A very simple pop up element in the middle

I kept it all pretty simple, and tried to add lots of textural elements - like the stamped grungy layers and hint of burlap. I did love how embossing the chevron pattern looks! DH is a big fan of interactive cards and I'd glimpsed a card on my Pin feed that used an acetate insert and figured it should be easy to do - and it was! and still packs a punch - winner!

Adding grunge is a fun thing to do so do join us this week! Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT for lots of fabulous inspiration.

Kim
