Just Add Ink #709 Colour

Hello there,
time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week's it's a colour challenge from Rochelle. You will have a wealth of choice this week, as you can choose to use ALL six colours or just pick three.

I decided to go with three of the colours - Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Misty Moonlight. Here's how it turned out.

This was the first time I have used the Layers of Beauty Decorative Masks and I'm pretty impressed with the outcome. To colour the flowers my first layer was a light layer of Highland Heather. the second layer was a heavier application of Highland Heather and the third and final layer was Gorgeous Grape. The leaves were all Misty Moonlight, first a light layer then a more saturated layer.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of beautiful projects using the colours to show you so please go check them and then come back and join in the challenge.

Just Add Ink #707 Sketch

Hello there,
time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week's it's a sketch challenge from yours truly. One fun thing about sketches is that you can always rotate them, or flip them to make them work for your idea, which is what I did this week. Here's the sketch.

Here's how my project turned out.

The semi circle sketch element is what drove my idea for this project. Once I thought of it being the moon then it was just a case doing the inky work to create a night time scene. While not realistic, artistically I preferred the tree elements at the bottom to be in white as they contrasted so crisply with the dark sky. The dark tones and clean lines lent this more towards a 'thinking of you" sentiment so that's how I finished it off.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of fabulous projects using the sketch to show you so please go check them and then come back and join in the challenge.

Kim

Just Add Ink #703 Choose Two

Hello there,
this week at Just Add Ink, Kerry has a Choose Two challenge for us. Just pick two of the options below and feature them on your project. This week you might find it harder to not include all three but it can be done!

I decided to go with bright colours and birthday. This is how it turned out.

My choice of patterned paper set what colours I would be using, so with that decision made I just had to get on with the colouring. Once the colouring was done, and the sentiment embossed, Wink of Stella and a scatter of sequins finished the card off.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of bright and fun projects to show you so please go check them and then come back and join in the challenge.

Just Add Ink #699 Colour

Hello,
time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week Di has given us a colour challenge filled with vibrant tones. Here it is.

Berry Burst made me think of flowers so that's the path I went down. Here's how it turned out.

After I coloured in the flowers adding layers of colour using the matching masks, and a little blending, they had a bit of a vintage feel to them so I paired them up with a scalloped mat. The element that really snapped the design in place was the inked up embossing for the background. As soon as I paired that with the flowers I new the design was on the right track. It's so nice when you have one of those moments when things click into place!

I experimented with the inside flowers little, adding some of the Starry Sky ink in the centres to get a more purple tone. Adding little white gel pen accents also really helped the flowers pop. Wink of Stella, sequins and the matching twine from my stash helped to finish it all off.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of gorgeous projects to show you so please go check them and then come back and join in the challenge.

Just Add Ink #697 Sketch

Hello,
time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week Di has a sketch for us. Here it is.

I was feeling a little whimsical this week so I pulled out a cute character to colour.

I don't often use Designer Series paper (DSP), but despite that I still have a stash. And this is where I started with the card - going through the stash to find something that would work as a background for my cute birthday raccoon. Having found the DSP I wanted to use I picked out my  balloon colours and got to colouring. A great lazy weekend afternoon activity especially with a movie on in the background. As I was assembling the card I decided to add accents of black, this led to more scrounging through the DSP stash to find a pattern that worked as a mat for the main panel and also to highlight the sentiment. Wink of Stella and some sequins added the necessary bling elements.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of fabulous projects to show you so please go check them and then come back and join in the challenge.

Just Add Ink #693 Choose Two

Hello,
this week at Just Add Ink, Di has set us a Choose Two challenge. We give you three options, and you choose two to use on your project.

For my card I went with circles and sayings.

This card is intended for a youngish teen. With this in mind I selected really bright bold colours for the background and for my feature kitty cat and added lots of shiny bling elements. I used blending brushes to create the background, splattered it with Wink of Stella and then used an old spotty (circles!) mask to apply shimmery embossing paste. I coloured my birthday kitty with blends, mounting it perched on top of a matching cute sentiment (= saying) on a large dotted circle mat. A mix of ribbon textures accent the sentiment and a scatter of gems and sequins finished it all off.

I definitely strayed from the colours I preferentially use this week but I actually found it really refreshing to do so.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of lovely projects to show you so please go check them and then come back and join in the challenge.

Kim

Just Add Ink #691 Inspiration

Hello,
this week at Just Add Ink Kerry is asking us to Just Add Inspiration. The inspiration picture is filled with colours, objects, and textures that you can use as the main feature of your projects. Here it is.

The deep blue tones throughout the inspiration picture caught my eye as did the sparkly rich gold of the stars seen in one of the images at the top. Putting that together with a swirly star die from my stash this is how it turned out.

I watercoloured the background first, then once dry, splattered with gold ink. Dried once again. Then die cut the swirling star pattern out. Putting some of the stars aside for the inside. I then cut the swirling stars from gold glimmer paper, and paper pieced the gold stars into the watercolored panel. Although I did leave a scatter of small stars white as it added an extra little pop of brightness. Some gold cord and a gold embossed sentiment finished it all off.

Just Add Ink #689 Colour

Hello,
time for a new challenge from Just Add Ink. This week Rochelle has given us a colour challenge.

My inspiration was a mental process of - 'let's use some new product and I haven't done any colouring for a while or used a mask'. I mixed that all altogether with the colours and this was the outcome.

The most time consuming element was the colouring. I actually think colouring small detailed images takes longer than colouring larger ones. But it was a good occupation for a quiet weekend afternoon. Stenciling the background was very quick but I decided to add some interest by breaking that up into a striped pattern so that was a bit fussy as well.

The late afternoon photography unfortunately doesn't really do it justice. IRL it is very clean, bright and fresh, with a pop of colour from the flowers and sequins gleaming.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of lovely projects to show you so please go check them and then come back and join in the challenge.

Just Add Ink #687 Sketch

Hello there,
this week at Just Add Ink we have a sketch challenge for you - from me! Here's the sketch.

My first thought on looking at the sketch was that if I rotated it to a vertical format it would be perfect for a z fold card so that's what I made. Here's how it turned out.

I started by die cutting all the pieces for my ship and the waves. I sponged the edges of my sails and then dry embossed them to add some material texture. The background I blended in three stages - the water, a narrow strip of land horizon and then the sky. Extra 'texture' was added to the sea and land using stamping and some birds and clouds finished off the sky. The key point in the assembly was making sure to carefully align my inside panel with the front panel. This was to ensure that when the card is closed it looks clean and there is no hint of the inside peeking out.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of gorgeous projects to show you so please go check them and then come back and join in the challenge.
