JAI #266 Just add a colour combo

Hello there,
this week at Just Add Ink it's time for a colour challenge! Nikki has come up with a lovely colour combo that I'm sure will delight you.

Bold stripes is what popped into my mind and so this is what I ended up with.

One to show you the flowery dimension.

The inside.

I simply layered strips of Night of Navy over a white card base eyeballing an even spacing With a bold base I needed something bold on top. First a big scrolly sentiment, then a big flowery cluster and lots of gold foliage. To give the flowers some more depth I sponged Pink Pirouette ink over the centres of the white embossed detail.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's fabulous creations. Hope you can join us.

Kim

Just Add Ink #258 Just add a colour combo

Hello there,
well it's mixed feelings here today as school holidays start. Half of me is happy - delighted with the break in routine (no lunch boxes!) but the other half is already exhausted knowing that I have to keep the munchkins entertained for two weeks - eeeek! But before the onslaught begins it's time to tell you about this week's Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have a gorgeous colour challenge for you from Rochelle. You'll enjoy it for sure! Here's the colours.

And here is what I came up with.

I finally got to break out a new flower set that had been sitting in a pile of stamps for months - no joke! I love the impact of this botanical style image. I thought the little flower from Petite Petals was a great match to accent that main flower too. To add some depth I wanted to stamp some flowers direct on the DSP but didn't want them to compete with the punched flowers on top. So I broke out some gesso and brushed it over the DSP and stamped flowers. (I discovered in the process that you need to heat set your stamped flowers BEFORE you paint over the gesso!). I was pretty happy with the way this turned out. Just a simple mix of ink, DSP and gesso but a lot of fun to do.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's gorgeous creations this week.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim
