I have been flat out working on swaps for the upcoming SU! Convention here in Australia - 6 days to go!! you can't half tell that I'm excited can you :) I'm really looking forward to catching up with my fellow Just Add Ink DT members and seeing other old friends. Not to mention the excited buzz, the sneak peeks, the inspiration. I did say I was excited didn't I ;)
Ok enough babble this weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is a sketch challenge. Here it is.
I started by flipping the sketch. The thought crossed my mind to use foliage to represent one of the elements of the sketch. So I pulled out Fabulous Florets and stamped and cut layers of foliage and flowers. Since I was going with a blue/pink colour scheme I inked the flowers in Pretty in Pink first then rock and rolling the edges in Marina Mist. I also couldn't resist using some of the new pleated satin ribbon - just gorgeous! All the white space on the top just made me uneasy so I added some subtle patterning and misting. I carried through the foliage and background to the inside and finished off the flowers with some subtle sparkle. Very hard to capture in photos!
Do check out the rest of the DT they have produced some wonderful examples of how this great sketch can be interpreted.
Thanks for visiting :)
Kim

I really like your colour choices, and inking of the flowers, Kim. Great take on the sketch. See you next week, love!
ReplyDeleteKim the flowers are gorgeous in the colours you've chosen. I love the "splatter" too.
ReplyDeleteLove the colours you've gone with here Kim, it's nice to see a brighter than usual blue teamed with pink. Lots of fussy cutting from you again, and awesome as usual. Great card my friend.

Kim, another gorgeous card using this set. I love the 2 tone colours of the flower and the pleated ribbon. Your cutting makes my hand sore just looking at it but it just adds that extra bit of something to the card. I'll miss seeing you at Convention this year - very sad that I'm not coming along :(
ReplyDeleteYour rock'n'roll flowers and colour choice are a stunning mix Kim, it really has made such a beautiful card.xxx
