Hello there,
well I'm back in chilly Canberra this week. Its been nice to get home and the chill factor at night, which I don't mind actually, meant I could pull out the down quilts - love snuggling up in that warm fluffy softness! I decided to inject a little bit of bloom into this weeks Just Add Ink challenge as this weeks challenge is all about the special women in our lives. Mothers Day is just around the corner here in Australia so we want you to Just Add Mother - or any other special woman in your life - and let them know how special they are. I had organised ahead to make my mothers day cards (see previous post), in an effort to deal with our school holiday break, but my Mum's birthday is only a week apart from Mother's Day so I wanted to make a special card for Mum. Here it is.
The design for the front of this card, changed completely, right at the end. You know when you get that feeling that somehow just something isn't working for you! As part of that rearranging process when I was playing around with my bloom die cuts the idea occured to me to mount the rose on an oval and then have the flower stem coming up and then under the oval. I also had to stamp the sentiment up far enough that there was room for it to go all the way across - leaving a gap below - which I filled with a little scrolly stamp. Adding a little touch of leafy detail. The making details are I hope fairly apparent. The only point I might mention is that I rock and rolled the flowers to get the varigated effect and they were finished off with a little subtle glitter.
Sending smiles your way too :) Thanks for visiting.
Kim

ReplyDeleteYou card is stunning and that flower just tops it off.
I love how you have incorporated your greeting and oval punched flower head into the main flower image on your card, very inspirational. I am sure your mum will love this card for her birthday.

ReplyDeleteVery pretty Kim. I haven't seen this flower before and it looks wonderful rock and rolled and glittered. Great colour combo - you've now reminded me I haven't used rich razzleberry in a long time - I better dig it out!
