Just Add Ink #654 Colour

Hello,
time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week Rochelle is asking us to Just Add a Colour combo. The bright palette of colours is a nice change from winter setting in here, although I do love the vibrant Autumn colours we get - while there is still leaves on the trees.

This is what I came up with this week.

This bright, very summery combo of colours was perfect for my birthday card project. For the background, over a base of Tahitian Tide, to add a little interest I used an old SU! stencil to add vertical tone-on-tone stripes. Then splattered the background with Wink of Stella and gouache. The flowers and foliage were stamped and I then used the matching blends to add some extra depth and shading. Then I arranged the flowers to frame the delicate die cut sentiment.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of fabulous projects to show you so please go check them out and then come back and join in the challenge.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

Just Add Ink #652 Sketch

Hello there,
time for new challenge from Just Add Ink and this week Tina has asked us to Just Add a Sketch. Here it is.

I felt like colouring a cute and cuddly character so I pulled out a set from my stash, and this is what I came up with.

You could almost say the balloon was the defining factor in the design. As when I think of balloons I think of sky so that led to a blended background with clouds. Another delve into my stash unearthed a bright yellow DSP that coordinated in theme and colour to match. Leaving me to then to colour all the accessories - balloon and presents - with a matching bright primary colour palette. Some sparkly sequins finished it all off.

It's been a while since I've coloured and it was nice to get back to it :)

The rest of the JAI DT have lots of fabulous projects for you to look at, so please go check them out and then come back and join in the challenge.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

Just Add Ink #650 Big number and letters

Hello there,
we have a super size challenge for you this week at Just Add Ink. Lou is asking us to Just Add large letters or numbers. With a special birthday in the family, this was the perfect challenge to make a super size card.

Here's how it turned out.

There were several steps to this project. First, I blended the two-tone ombre front panel, then adding a sunburst pattern over the top with a stencil. Second, I stamped a multitude of flowers in different purple/ pink/ blue tones and die cut, and fussy cut them out. Third, I arranged flower clusters around the feature number panel. Lastly, I finished it all off with Wink of Stella and sequins.

Just Add Ink #648 Choose Two

Hello there,
this week at Just Add Ink, Tina has challenged us to Just Choose Two. Just pick two of the three options below, then have fun combining them for your project.

With my own garden slowly succumbing to Autumn, I created a flower filled garden, under a window.

I started by scrounging through my die collection to find the right size flower and foliage options. Then I pulled out lots of cardstock - shades of green and bright colours for the flowers. The window and its curtains were also die cut, and the wall and flower pots were stamped using the accompanying (now retired) stamp set. It was labour intensive but at the same time fun, especially putting it together and seeing the scene emerge, pretty much as I had envisioned.

The JAI DT have plenty of inspiration for you, so please go check them out and then come back and join in the challenge.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

Just Add Ink #646 Inspiration

Hello there,
the presence of an abundance of chocolate Easter goodies in supermarkets probably means you are aware that Easter is fast approaching. With that in mind for Just Add Ink's inspiration challenge this week I suggested something with Easter overtones. Here's the inspiration picture - use the colours, patterns, or objects you see to inspire the main element of your project.

And this is where I went with it.

The main elements from the inspiration picture that I used in my project were the crumb cake colour and featuring a bunny. Luckily ;) I just happened to have an adorable bunny image that I could use.

I started by stamping my image, then masked the bunny and balloon off so I could blend a gentle blue sky. Next I coloured my bunny and balloon, but to make it a little extra I fussy cut them out and popped them up on dimensionals over the original stamped images.

A stitched frame, a little twine and a small scatter of sequins finished it off.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of lovely projects to show you so please go check them out and then come back and join in the challenge.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

Just Add Ink #644 Colour

Hi there,
this week at Just Add Ink, Kerry has a colour challenge for us all. It's a bold and vibrant combo to play with. My first thought was flowers, as always, but then decided to take a different path mixing old with new. Here's the colour combo.

And this is how my project turned out.

Cactus Cuties, bought during COVID times and never used, came to mind when I pulled out my new Desert Details set. The two meshed together perfectly! Two elements that I think were critical for this project are the black accents, they make the bold colours pop even more and the little flower accents.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you all make of this colour combination, but to get you started go check out the rest of the JAI DT projects for inspiration.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

Just Add Ink #642 Sketch

Hello there,
time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week it is a sketch challenge from me! The sketch gives you lots of leeway to feature whatever you want as the focal. For me it was a teacup brimming with flowers. Here's the sketch.

And here's how my project turned out.

My starting point was 1) to use the striped tea cup stamp from Cup of Tea, and 2) to fill it with flowers using the new to me stamp set Petal Park. To add some extra depth to the flower colouring I used complementary blends to add some shading and deeper colour accents. The greenery was a mix of hand coloured and die cut. If you drop past often you know I love a splattered ombre blended background. To add some extra detail this time I also added a delicate die cut flower pattern over it.

The Just Add Ink team have lots of beautiful entries to show you, so please go check them out and then come back and join in the challenge.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim
