Just Add Ink "D"

Hello there,
last weekend it was Father's Day here in Australia and I ended up in a last minute rush to make cards for my Dad and FIL. Luckily, I also had to make a project for this week's Just Add Ink project which just happened to be perfectly suited for this occasion. This week Tina wants you to Just Add 'D'.

The idea is that the main element of your project needs to start with D. It could be a dog, donut or a diorama card. I choose "Dad" which is another D option.

I couldn't go past using these fun tools for my Dad, who was an awesome handyman in his day. I coloured them up and then added some gloss by coating the handles with glue (Fine Tip glue) and letting it dry. The peg board I created by using a die (row of small circles) that comes with the Mini Treat Bag thinlets.

JAI #330 Just add a sketch

Hello there,
well another jam packed week is behind me (are there any other ones?) The kids wrapped up Term 3 today and school holidays begin. That has a certain appeal (like not making lunch boxes up at 6:30 am) but it also means routine and my usual stamping windows go - well out the window. Before all the chaos hits I have put in some time on DT projects and today at Just Add Ink we want you to Just Add a Sketch (from me this week!) Here it is.

I had a completely different intention originally for this sketch until I realised that, with just a little adjustment, it was perfect to make a spinner card for my Dad. Here it is.

As you can see I brought the large horizontal banner to the front of the sketch to act as the track for my spinner. Despite the move you can still see how the elements of the sketch come through the design. I kept the rest of it pretty simple - no frills and bells for masculine cards - instead I opted for visual texture with the embossed background and some strategically placed highlights of stitching.

PTI anniversary challenge

Hello there,
in the midst of my crazy week I seized the chance for some craft therapy. I wanted to package up a little something for a special friend to go with the card I posted on Friday for the Just Add Ink's latest challenge. I was inspired to make a flower tag to match the card by Papertrey Ink's Day 3 release challenge (see Nichole Heady's blog here).

The tag is almost bigger than the little treat bag but I wanted it to be matchy matchy with the card and well I'm pretty sure the recipient won't mind at all :)

I'm entering the tag and treat bag into the Papertrey Ink's Day 3 Release challenge to a create a handmade tag to along with a matching gift bag.
