Just Add Ink #498 'E'

Hello there,
with things so crazy in the world right now it's nice to snatch a few minutes to myself and craft. This week for Just Add Ink Tina has asked us to Just Add 'E'. This means that the main element(s) of your project should begin with the letter 'E'. A big favourite for this time of year is 'Easter', but it could be an object or animal - like elephant - or a technique like embossing. Embossing, both heat and dry, are two of my favourite ways to add interest to my cards, so embossing it was!

Here's how it turned out.

It felt rather strange to not be colouring the flowers, but having said that they looks pretty special gold embossed. The card ended up being a celebration of gold, the gleam of the embossing and pearls and the texture of die cuts contrasted against each other. To add a little more interest to the flowers I added some shading with a light toned pink Blends marker, and to the centre of the little die cut flowers a swish of wink of Stella.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of fun and fabulous 'E' projects to show you this week so please do go check them out.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

Just Add Ink #496 Inspiration

Hello there,
with the recent influx of rain, which was very welcome after our summer of drought and smoke, my garden is happily blooming and so is my card for this week's Just Add Ink challenge. This week Lou has given us a warm toned sea themed inspiration photo. Use the colours, patterns, textures or objects in the inspiration picture to inspire the main element of your project. Here's the picture.

Here's my card.

Seaside Spray really is the perfect cool blue tone to represent the water. To add to the beach feel I added a woodgrain embossed texture to the base panel. The flowers are coloured with the rich tones of the starfish and sand. So lots and lots of colouring with blends, then also lots of careful trimming of the flowers and foliage from the Breathtaking Bouquet background stamp. I do love there are so many options within that one stamp to colour.

TIP:The main thing to keep in mind when you are colouring with blends is to maintain enough contrast, so go darker than you feel comfortable with in those shadow areas.

To be honest I think my large orange toned flowers could have had more contrast. So I'll work on that next time. A swish of wink of stella, some silver glimmer and silver pearls are the finishing touches to glam it up.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of lovely projects to show you so please go check them out and then come back and join in the challenge.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim
