JAI #346 Choose Two

Hello there,
well the icky sticky weather has continued - and so has my search for air conditioning ;) On the positive side I can say that the heat makes glue dry really quickly (more on that below). So this week at Just Add Ink we want you to Just Choose Two. See what Nikki has picked for us this time.

And here is what I came up with.

Where this ended up was not where I started but sometimes you just need to let things go the way they want! I did like the combination of ombre embossing (I used a rolling pin to get the partial pressure so the hearts only embossed on the bottom half of the front panel) and ombre colour behind the detail of the floral thinlet. I gave the detailed die cut some substance by cutting three layers and glueing them together. Then I covered the entire surface with glue leaving it to dry to a shiny glossing coating. Hanging the 'U' from the love sentiment was a quirky touch that just appealed to me so I added it in (and I liked that it draws your eye down to the embossed hearts too).

You can have a lot of fun with the Choose two challenges - do go check out the rest of the design team for some great ideas, then come back and share your take on the challenge!

Thanks for visiting,

  1. You never cease to amaze me with your amazing creativity, Kim - rolling pin!... 3 intricate layers glued! I'm thinking this must look even more spectacular in person. Really lovely!

  4. Stunning, Kim. Love the glittery bits, the ombre effects, and the 'dangling' U.

  5. Wow! A red hot card for red hot weather huh! Temperature's rising where you are Kim, but it's low, low, low over here in the UK - somewhere in-between would be good! Great card and I love the inside too!

  6. Ooo - that's a new technique to try - partial embossing. Love it! It's a beautiful card Kim. Kelly x

  7. Wow & wow! Lots of fun new techniques to try..:0) So much detail Kim, you never stop producing these stunning technique cards..Love it! Especially the layered, glue topped sentiment. xx

  8. This is stunning, Kim! Love the ombre effect behind your gorgeous, shiny heart and the dangling "U" is such a fun addition. Your rolling pin idea for embossing is brilliant too - I must give that a try. xx
