Just Add Ink #383 Cake

Hey there,
short and sweet this week as I just have tooooo much on my plate. But speaking of plates ;) we have a fun challenge for you at Just Add Ink this week. Chloe has suggested that we Just Add Cake, so pull out all your cake stamps, get creative and show us all your gorgeous yummy cakes!

I had the perfect set in my stash that had never been inked - so out it came to make a chocolate cake  - the flavour of preference in our house.

I topped off the cake with some glossy strawberries - yum! My spotty background was inspired by the thought stream, cake = birthday, birthday = confetti, so that is my confetti background in hues of pink and red.

The Just Add Ink design team have a gorgeous array of cake inspiration for you, so please go check them out and then make your own cake project to share with us.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

JAI #314 Just add inspiration

Hello there,
brr it's cold outside - we had our first frost this week and thick fog! There is an upside though - snugly doonas and hot chocolates while you watch a movie matinee with the kids on the weekend :) The challenge we have for you at Just Add Ink this week is filled with warm colours. This week Di has suggested we Just Add Inspiration. Here's the picture - you can take the colours, patterns, or elements whatever inspires you and use that as the basis for your project this week. Hope you play along with us!

Here's what I came up with.

The inside

All those lovely round fruits gave me the perfect excuse to pull out some new toys - the dies to match Swirly Bird. First I laid down a rich layer of water colouring. Once that was dry I splashed some water drops over, dried it again, and then added a fine splatter of gold Wink of Stella. I cut three swirls from Shimmer White cardstock and gold embossed a portion on each. I embellished those with a little clusters of tiny swirl flowers. A sentiment banner with hand stitched edging finished it all off.

I don't normally lean towards using oranges and purples so this was a nice change and I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

Don't forget to stop past the rest of the DT for some fabulous inspiration!

Kim

OnStage Sydney Display Stamper Swirly Bird Sweet Sugarplum

Hello there,
well today I am going to finish off my OnStage samples with Sweet Sugarplum.

Sweet Sugarplum and Rose Red swirly flowers with some touches of silver. The flower stem images in the set work great as leaf veining too!

I used the solid part of the kite image to add some background detail here. As well as using Sweet Sugarplum and Emerald Envy to colour the flower.

The swirl image makes a great atmospheric background for a butterfly. I paired Sweet Sugarplum with Rich Razzleberry and Elegant Eggplant and lots of gold.

One last shaker to finish off with. I stitched vellum over Sweet Sugarplum DSP and added in silver sequins. Clear embossed little flowers add some interest to the white background and are stamped and water coloured as the feature too.

Thanks for much for dropping by while I was showcasing my samples. I'll be back again next Friday with a new Just Add Ink challenge post.

OnStage Sydney Display Samples Swirly Bird Dapper Denim

Well things got a bit busy but finally it's time to show you my OnStage Dapper Denim samples. It's a nice blue to work with.

I mixed Dapper Denim with some of SU! current soft blues and greens. It looks great with Kraft too!

With Real Red and Cherry Cobler - the little boat is the perfect size to put in a shaker.

Mixed with neutrals to create a rustic baby card (I used a marker to add the dot detail to the eggs)

A CAS simple one to finish. Denim Dapper sponged in a gradient mixed with a tiny touch of Marina Mist on the kite and silver.

OnStage Sydney Display Samples Swirly Bird Emerald Envy

Oops! forgot to post these last night!
Today it's the turn of Emerald Envy.
I loved how it looked with Kraft - you might notice that ;)

Used the birdy, 'nest" swirl and eggs for this one.

This one was all about backgrounds - using part of the 'kite' and also the splatter stamp - great for masculine cards.

I couldn't go past a dinosaur card when using Emerald Envy. (Can you spot the part of the kite I used in the card above?)

For this simple little PL page I used the bird and boat as they tied in so well with the pictures.

OnStage Sydney Display Sample Swirly Bird Peekaboo Peach

Hello there,
here is today's installment. It's all about Peekaboo Peach!

A big swirl adds great detail to the sun. It's also easy to add extra definition to the bird by using a fine tip black marker.  (I paired it with Marina Mist here)

A cascade of little flowers using the little swirl stamps (the greens I used for the leaves were Wild Wasabi and Garden Green)

Tiny swirls make great little flowers to decorate a tag on a mini treat bag.

The inside where you can include a message and gift card.

Finally, using the dotty splatter stamp to make a background.

OnStage Sydney Display Samples Swirly Bird Flirty Flamingo

Well this is somewhat unexpected but then so was the phone call I got a few weeks before the OnStage event in Sydney. I was delighted to be asked to be a display stamper at the Sydney event. The time line was challenging - two weeks to create twenty projects - four each for the new incoming in colors (2016-18). Stampin Up! sent me a new stamp set - Swirly Bird and the new in colors and I set to work. It wasn't hard, Swirly Bird has a lot of potential as I hope you'll see. Below you will find the cards I made to showcase the new colour Flirty Flamingo - possibly my favourite of the new colours. Drop by each day to see the next set of four projects.

Little flowers make a fun background

Swirls make a great atmospheric background

I used the back of the stamps for this one

Then right way around for this one to make flowers!
