Colour INKspiration #71

Hello there,
not too many flowers in our garden right now as its been ravaged by heat, repeatedly, and also a massive hailstorm - golf ball size, once! Luckily I can always create my own. So for this week's Colour INKspiration #71 challenge I pulled out some new flowers dies from SU!

This week at Colour INKspiration Jackie selected a photo with a lovely soft colour palette. It has a very rustic feel and the colours are Highland Heather, Pool Party, Grey Granite and Pear Pizzazz. Here's the inspiration picture.

Here's how my card turned out.

Tip: Add ink to the same coloured card stock to get two tones.

When you have a restricted colour palette it's always handy to remember that if you add the ink to the same shade of card stock you will end up with a darker shade and that was how I got the two shades for my poppies and their leaves. First, I die cut all the pieces, then I laid out all the detail layers and brayered the matching ink over them. Then I glued all my layers together and arranged the leaves and poppies in a loose wreath. Glimmer paper, shimmery crystal effects and sequins add all those important sparkle elements to finish off the card.

You can join in the challenge over at the  Colour INKspiration challenge page on Facebook, just click the link to be redirected and ask to join the group, that way you can load your projects directly to the Facebook group.

Kim

Just Add Ink #475 Food

Hello there,
this week at Just Add Ink we have a challenge that is sure to appeal to everyone, as this week Kelly is asking us to Just Add Food. I definitely have a sweet tooth, a small measured consumption of chocolate every day is a requirement that I hold dear to my heart! I didn't have a chocolate stamp but a cake (let's just pretend it's chocolate) will do!

Here's how it turned out.

I kept my cake pretty simple, sticking with a limited colour palette. Then I pulled those colours back into the supporting elements of the card. I added texture using two embossing folders and stitched detail, and sparkle by adding silver die cut elements and a fun, bow made with delicate metallic thread (five layers). The last shine element was to cover the floral detail on my cake with the new shimmery crystal effects. To finish it all off a fun sentiment pops out in bold black and white.

The rest of the Just Add Ink DT have lots of lovely projects to show you so please go check them out, then come back and join in the challenge!

Thanks for visiting,
Kim
