Merry Monday #76

Hello there,
well for the first time in ages I had the time to play along with a Merry Monday challenge. Life has been sooo busy the last couple of months. This week the challenge at Merry Monday was to use a snowman.

Now I don't have many snowmen but did manage to dig one out of my stash and then had fun colouring him with my copics. Here's how he turned out.

I haven't made a tent card in ages! So it was quite fun to put this one together. No picture of the inside this week as I kept it super simple in there as the space is a bit limited - so just some Crumb Cake snowflakes to echo the front.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

JAI 184 Just add bows

Hello there,
we are on the verge of school holidays here. School holidays are often quite hectic but you do get those moments when you can just chill, and no making lunch boxes up at 6:30 am is definitely a welcome bonus!

However, when I made my card for this weeks Just Add Ink challenge I was thinking ahead to the big event at the end of the year - Christmas. This week we want you to Just Add Bows -  a really versatile challenge. Check out the rest of the JAI DT and you'll see what I mean!
My Christmas Just Add Bows card

I began this with a different idea altogether. But as I was cutting some red bows the thought crossed my mind that if they were green I could make a wreath with them - and that's what happened! Embossing them adds the shine factor and the woodgrain effect background a bit of a rustic feel. The wreaths topped off with a big diecut glittery 'merry' for that extra Christmassy touch. It was kind of fun putting it together! Hope you can join us!

JAI 183 Just add a sketch

Hello there,
well the week is almost over - sigh of relief here - its been another busy one. And the weekend offers the chance to sneak in a little stamping :) so it seems a good time to tell you about this weeks Just Add Ink challenge. This week we want you to Just Add a Sketch. Here it is.
I'm still on the fence with the whole hexagon thing so I went a bit, well you could call it interpretive with the sketch. But if you look closely you see all the elements in the right place. For example the two flower heads, the butterfly and the splotches represent the four hexagons in the sketch.

Soft, girly and bit vintage with touches of shimmer (the splotches and lace are all stamped in Encore Gold) is how this turned out which was just what I was hoping. Always nice when that happens! Do check out the rest of the JAI DT for some inspirational ideas on how to use this great sketch.

Kim

JAI 182 Just add frames

Hello there,
we've enjoyed a lovely Spring interval only to be plunged back into wintery conditions this week - only to be expected I guess. But it might explain why I gravitated to bright colours for the challenge we have for you this week at Just Add Ink. This week we want you to Just add frames. Check out the rest of the DT for some fun and fabulous ideas for ways to add frames to your project. The first thought that popped into my head was photo negative frames.

Do you see what I mean by bright, but since this is going to be a birthday card for my nephew I figured bright colours were the way to go! Really it was all pretty simple - just a nifty filmstrip die (I knew it would come in handy one day - lol!) and a few black embossed racing cars. The colour change within the filmstrip seems to help create that sense of movement I think. A little bit of splotching detail and it was all done. Yeah I love being prepared ahead of time! Now I just have to get his birthday present sorted :o

Hope you can join us this week at Just Add Ink and have some fun adding frames!

Kim

JAI 181 - Just add a colour combo

Hello there,
well spring has sprung here - its sheer delight to feel the warmth of the sun and smell the delicious flowery scents in the air. So it might seem rather incongruous to present you with a Christmas card this week but time is ticking by folks - lol! - time to get that Christmas card production into full gear ;) Of course I used the challenge we have for you this week at Just Add Ink - a colour challeng,e for my card. It makes for rather striking trendy Christmas colours!
But in all honestly this was my second go round. But I did like how this turned out.

More new Christmas goodies to play with here. I used the new Stylish Stripes folder and DSP pattern stacks to play with diagonal patterns. I did try one little trick with my embossing folder. First I embossed one half of the front white mat and then flipping the folder over so the stripes meet in the middle and embossed the other side. Despite a rather tricky start with the colour combo this second go just came together - and I think I'll play with it  some more! Do check out the rest of the DT for fabulous colour inspiration. Hope you can join us!

Kim
