JAI#300 Just Add a Sketch

Hello there,
I'm going to be a little brief this week - it's been sweltering hot here. Summer was clearly determined to make it's last stand and I'm feeling a bit like a limp lettuce. Bring on Autumn I say!!!  So on to the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we want you to Just Add a Sketch and this week I had the fun job of designing it :) It is also our 300th challenge - yes really!! To celebrate we are giving a prize to our challenge winner and two runners up. So jump in and join us celebrate this milestone. Here's the sketch to get you started.

And this is what I came up with.

I haven't had the opportunity to make too many cards to celebrate someone buying their first home. So it was fun to make one for a change. It's such a significant event so the first thing that sprung to my mind was to incorporate a sunburst. Sun rising=new start - following my logic there ;) So I broke out an old SU! wheel to stamp my little apartment block then coloured it with copics. As a fun finishing touch I added crystal effects to the windows to get that glossy window gleam. Did you notice the misted sky on the front. I scattered a few little die cut clouds over the front and then misted with turquoise ink. Then all I had to do was remove the cloud die cuts to have some fluffy white cloud in a blue sky!

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT for some fun ideas of what you can do with the sketch. Hope you can join us!

Kim

JAI #299 Just add inspiration

Hello there,
well it has been toasty warm here again recently so I thought the challenge we have this week at Just Add Ink was just perfect.  This week Jan found a truly summery but very refreshing Just Add Inspiration picture for us. You can pull whatever elements inspire you from the picture - the colours, patterns, elements etc. Here it is.

And this is what I came up with.

The colours are what really caught my eye. The watermelon led me down the path of using Watermelon Wonder (what else) and water! It was such a great excuse to get in some more watercolouring. The flower was really going to be the star so I kept the background simple (just a few water splatters). The black elements add the contrast omph and a scattering of sequins some sparkle!

Can you find inspiration in the photo ?  Why don't you join us this week and find out! Do check out the rest of the DT for some fabulous ideas.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

JAI #298 Just add V

Hello there,
well a certain romantic date is creeping up on us at the moment and at Just Add Ink we wanted to give you the option to make a little something special for that special some one or not! How's that? Well this week Tina suggests you Just Add V. "V"? Well that means theme your project around things beginning with V. If you want to go the romantic road - then - Valentine's, but you can equally theme it around the colour Vanilla, other things I can think of include Vampire (if you want to get an early start on Halloween), Vacation, Video, Volcano, Vine and Vegetable.

Not only is it Valentines Day but our wedding anniversary is coming up soonish - so I made something that will do double duty!

A couple of shots to show how the heart can spin around the world!

A CAS inside.

I kept this CAS - always better for masculine cards. I let the DSP do all the work for me and added in a fun interactive element. My first go at a round spinner. It does work - perhaps not perfectly - but I think it will be enough to bring a smile to my DH's face.

So what can you think of that follows our "V" theme. We'd love to see! Don't forget to go and check out the rest of the JAI DT for some fun inspiration.

Kim

JAI #297 Just add a colour combo

Hello there,
well school holidays have finally wrapped up here and I have very happily settled back into the school routine as that means I actually get some stamping time!!!!! (and yes all those exclamation marks are very warranted ;) However, I did have to get one project done before school holidays wrapped up. The new Just Add Ink challenge this week - Just Add a Colour Combo from Nikki - was just perfect (as was the new SU! Blushing Bride glimmer paper) to glitz up something for my darling daughter. Here's are the colours.

And here is the super glitzy creation!

When my DD saw me putting together a water colour and glimmer creation - she instantly said that's what I want for my birthday! So who was I to argue ;) Using the new Blushing Bride glimmer paper was definitely a fun way to use my new Sunburst thinlet.  I added a little extra detail to the rays by adding a line of machine stitching. Then finished off the card with a scattering of sparkly sequins.

The rest of the DT have lots of wonderful other ideas for using this colour combo so do go check them out. Hope you can join us this week!

Thanks for visiting,
Kim
