Just Add Ink #529 Colour

Hello there,
time for another Just Add Ink challenge and this week we have a lovely colour challenge for you from Kelly. Here it is.

It might seem a bit odd to use such a strong pink for a masculine card, but mixed with blue you get purple and the ability to create a fabulous sky backdrop for my gleaming lighthouse!

Sometimes I'm just in awe of what you can do with just a few shades of ink. As I mentioned I used the Magenta brayered over the Misty Moonlight to create the graduation of tones in the sky. To finish off the sky I splattered with water, then patted it dry, then splattered with white gouache and finally with Wink of Stella. The layers of the sea was created by stamping the base layer in stamped off Misty Moonlight, then the top layer in full strength Misty Moonlight. White gouache applied with a stiff dry brush helped create the texture of sea foam. To make the light house shine I embossed the image on silver foil and then to add a bit of drama added some beams of light using vellum. Embossing, texture (in this case from ink and paint) and die cut stitched detail are often the best way to add detail to masculine cards without them getting too fussy.

The Just Add Ink DT have lots of fabulous projects to show you so please go check them out and then come back and join in the challenge.

Thanks for visiting,

Kim

Just Add Ink #521 Inspiration

Hello there,
well what a change - last week we had snow flakes, this week we had beautiful warm spring days. I really enjoyed sitting in the warm sun streaming in through the windows putting together the pieces for my project. I decided the new challenge from Just Add Ink, this week to Just Add Inspiration from Rachael, was perfect for a Father's day card. Here's the inspiration picture.

And this is what I came up with.

From the inspiration picture I pulled the mix of textured copper, white, green and blue for my project. The key element to masculine cards is texture, lots of texture. So splattered, stitched watercolour base, embossed copper, embossed mountains, heat embossed moon, and wonderfully textured die cut trees - love these!  Combine all those together with some dimension and you get a colourful atmospheric masculine card.

The rest of the Just Add Ink DT have beautiful projects to show you so please go check them out and then come back and join in the challenge.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim
