JAI 164 Just add a sketch

Hello there,
well after a bit of a break (in Hawaii no less) its back to catching up with my design team challenges. I enjoyed the change of pace but it was nice to come home and get inky again :) I've also been delving into SU! My Digital Studio - what a learning curve! But I really love the possibilities it offers. May'be I'll even get to put together a photo book on the holiday!

Anyway onto this weeks Just Add Ink challenge. This week we want you to add a sketch.
This how mine worked out.

May'be the warm weather in Hawaii inspired the springy feel of todays offering! In a bit of a doh momment I only realised as I was overlaying the trimmed out elements that of course they wouldn't overlay perfectly as I'd cut the bottom coloured panel up and spaced it out as a grid. To minimise this I had to cut the two larger sprays into much smaller pieces. I also wanted to leave some of the grid visible so you can see designs origin from the sketch. I used the ink pad lids and my aquapainter for all the colouring.

I wanted something special for my Mum's birthday and I think this fits the bill. Even if outside the window we have a carpet of colourful autumn leaves on the ground!

Thanks for visiting,

  1. This is so beautiful, Kim and your mum is going to love it. I bet you had a blast in Hawaii. I received a text from mum this morning at 7.30 to say that she had arrived there safe and sound. They have made the trip for a wedding. I hope to catch up with you when I am next in Canberra at the end of July xx

  2. Your card is gorgeous, Kim! I love the colours you've used on the flowers and leaves (sad to say goodbye to that stamp) and I love the way you've put it all together. Your mother will be thrilled, I'm sure.

  3. Glorious colours, Kim - such a beautiful card for your Mum. I love the stamping on the label; so pretty.

  4. This is just beautiful Kim, your mum will love this - who wouldn't! That is a lot of detailed cutting :)

  5. Such a pretty use of colour Kim and the overlay of blossoms is a lovely way to use the sketch. The extra inside finishes it off perfectly. I'm sure your mum will love it. xxx

  6. Wow - I love fussy cutting, but you are the fussy cutting Queen with this card Kim! I'm loving those gorgeously coloured blossoms!

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!
